Cork Cycle Festival Gears Up

Cork Cycle Festival Gears Up

Belleetik are part of the Cycle Chic fashion show on Saturday 23rd at 10pm on the Grand Parade, Cork City. There will be beautiful bikes on parade, with cycling models showing that you don’t have to sacrifice style to cycle.

It’s a wonderful fun festival, with a big heart, and a tiny budget.

We are selling the festival T-shirts online and all proceeds go to the event.

VIVIENNE WESTWOOD’S ETHICAL FASHION AFRICA COLLECTION

Vivienne Westwood launches an Ethical Fashion Africa collection. The collection features beautiful bag made from recycled materials & African inspiration, produced by women in Nairobi.

More on the Project – taken directly from www.viviennewestwood.com – “Vivienne Westwood has once again partnered with the ITC (International Trade Centre) in the Ethical Fashion Programme. This programme now supports over 7,000 women, who have a strong desire to improve their lives. Through the Programme’s extensive network, some of the poorest people in the world now have access to a job. The income earned enables children to attend school. It pays for medical expenses. It ensures other basic needs can be met. All those involved in Vivienne Westwood’s Ethical Fashion Africa collection are empowered by the pride they take in their work and the new skills learnt. The aim is that many will start their own companies and train the next generation of skilled workers, raising the standard of living in one of the world’s most fragile economies. NOT CHARITY, JUST WORK”

We really need more information on packaging on who makes our stuff.

Given the Day That’s In It, here are some ideas for an early Summer wedding – from Cool & Casual to All Out.

Fit For A Queen

Ideas for A Summer Wedding

I was very surprised to find myself excited for Kate Middleton. And not only that but I’m also very excited about the Queen visiting Cork in a few weeks – which is very bizarre – not being a royalist … at all. Although our own politicians behave like they’re part of a monarchy with all their entitlements. The term “ordinary people” seems like code for “commoners”. If ever there was a time for greater ethics & fairness – it’s NOW. Anyhow while I was thinking about what it would be like to be a future Queen and all the duties that would entail, I’ve had to admit I’ve been a bit lapse in my own duties as a shopkeeper here at Belleetik. I’ve spent the past 6 months in a blissful & privileged bubble thanks to new baby – a little boy – born in December. ONE is back again and ready to be Queen of Ones own roost again– so please do keep in contact.

To keep your marriage brimming, with love in the loving cup, whenever you’re wrong admit it; whenever you’re right shut up” – Ogden Nash, To Keep Your Marriage Brimming, (1902-1971)
